In October, we contacted writing programs and high schools across the country about an essay contest: The Lily wanted high school students — girls and young women — to write about their lives for us.

This annual essay contest is organized in an effort to harness the energy, creativity and initiative of the world's youth in promoting a culture of peace and sustainable development. It also aims to inspire society to learn from the young minds and to think about how each of us can make a difference in the world.The essays will be judged by the boards of the HUEA and HCER, with the top 15 submissions being adjudicated by the esteemed Harvard professor and 2016 Economics Nobel Prize winner Oliver Hart.The 2020 KCC-JEE High School Essay Contest winner is Jaden Martinez from San Antonio, Texas.
